Thomas (Beamer) Hughes II, 1956-2008. Beamer truly enriched the lives of all who knew him and was a friend to all. He was a caring and selfless man who adored his family, his friends, the game of golf, and his beloved St. Louis Cardinals. His kindness, generosity, integrity, and positive attitude touched many lives and made us all better people for knowing him. Beamer's passion for golf and life, along with the wonderful smile he had for all, continues to be an inspiration and will never be forgotten.

As a proud member of the Greece Arcadia Class of 1974 and the 2007 Greece Arcadia High School Sports Hall of Fame, Beamer played baseball as a freshman and sophomore and football all four years earning two varsity letters. He was team captain in 1973 and earned first-team all-county honors as quarterback after earning second team all-county as a junior in 1972. Beamer continued his education both at Rochester Institute of Technology and Monroe Community College, and continued playing baseball.

Beamer along with his wife Stephanie, have received many awards for their work and significant voluntary contributions in raising awareness and money to help children and adults with muscular dystrophy that live in the Greater Rochester / Finger Lakes Region.

With the help of their friends, the Beamer Hughes Foundation was established to further assist those in our area stricken with muscular dystrophy. This 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit foundation has provided numerous services and equipment including the purchasing of leg braces, wheelchairs, critical care supplies, and most recently, a high-capacity platform scale located and used for patients at the Neuromuscular Disease Center at Strong Memorial Hospital, as well as a camp for children held annually at the Rotary Sunshine Camp in Rush, New York.

Through the Annual Walk for Beam and Beamer's Golf Classic, Beamer's caring and giving legacy continues to help those people who have muscular dystrophy and live in our community obtain the equipment and services needed to live an active and fulfilling life. Beamer's strength, courage, and everlasting love for life continues to be an inspiration and will never be forgotten.
