![]() Thomas H. (Beamer) Hughes Class of 1974 Football and Baseball Tom played baseball as a freshman and sophomore and football all four years earning two varsity letters. He was team captain in ’73 and earned first-team all-county honors at quarterback after earning second team all-county as a junior in ’72. In, 2002, Tom was awarded the local MDA Personal Achievement Award for his dedication in helping others with muscular dystrophy. He was also recognized as the 2004 United Way Community Champion Award winner in honor of his significant voluntary contributions to our community. With the help of his friends, the Beamer Hughes not-for-profit foundation was established to help those in our area stricken with muscular dystrophy disease. The Beamer Hughes Golf Classic has raised over $300,000 for people affected with muscular dystrophy. July 31, 2006, was declared (Beamer) Hughes Day by 56th District State Senator Joseph E. Robach.
