Please join us on Sunday, August 13, 2023 for The Walk For Beam. This Sunday, August 13th, we’re rechristening what used to be the Beamer Walk and creating the First Annual Beamer Bash. As most of you know, our great friend, Tom “Beamer” Hughes, was diagnosed with the same rare form of Muscular Dystrophy that led to his father’s passing at age fifty-two. Unfortunately, Beamer succumbed to the same fate when he also reached fifty-two years of age in 2008 but, prior to his doing so, he and his wife, Stephanie, created the Beamer Hughes Foundation to raise money to specifically help those in Rochester, especially children, who have been affected by Muscular Dystrophy. Over the past fifteen to twenty years, the Foundation has distributed many thousands of dollars to those people, helping them install ramps at their houses, purchase wheelchairs or install pools (just to name a few of the ways the Foundation has helped). The Beamer Bash is a way for us all to get together for a great cause with a bunch of fun people at a truly iconic venue at the mouth of the Genesee River. The festivities will kick off this Sunday at noon at Silk O’Laughlin’s Bar & Restaurant (“Olie’s” 5980 St. Paul Boulevard, Rochester, NY 14617). I can honestly say that there is no better place to spend a summer afternoon than at Olie’s. And there was never a better man than Beamer. Hope to see you there. Sincerely, Tom p.s. If you can’t make it Sunday but would still like to contribute to the Foundation, please go to website of the Beamer Hughes Foundation (https://TheBeamerHughesFoundation.com) and click on “Donate Today!” Again, thanks.
